First and foremost, I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to our organising partners, Center for Peace and Security Studies, Gadjah Mada University, Human Rights Study Centre, Islamic University of Indonesia, and Djokosoetono Research Centre, Universitas Indonesia for their dedication to the Sixth International Conference on Human Rights and Peace & Conflict in Southeast Asia.
After intensive consultations with local organisers and close monitoring of the situation in the region, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the SEAHRN Conference scheduled for October 2020 to October 2021. The decision was based on increased concerns about the anticipated health, social and economic effects of COVID-19 throughout the year. Our organisers and secretariat staff would also have to take care of themselves, their families, and other professional matters during this crisis. We believe that this is the best way to proceed during such unprecedented global situation.
We fervently hope for swift and rights-based resolve to this crisis. I, together with SEAHRN members and secretariat, look forward to welcoming you to Yogyakarta, Indonesia in October 2021. For now, terima kasih and stay healthy.
